The Thomasville Genealogical, History and Fine Arts Library, Inc. is a major repository of materials for family research with emphasis on the southeastern states. Resources include general reference works; marriage and death records; Family Tree Maker CD’s; census records on microfilm for Georgia, Virginia, North and South Carolina, Florida, Alabama, and Mississippi; and 2,800 rolls of U.S. Revolutionary War pension applications on microfilm.

It serves as the nation’s clearinghouse for information, technical assistance, research and advocacy on preservation-based commercial district revitalization.
The Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation is headquartered in Atlanta and it’s website has valuable information regarding Historic Preservation, as well as the Georgia Main Street program. The Historic Preservation Division of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources serves as the State Historic Preservation Office in Georgia.
VSU’s Small Business Development Center is a public service unit that provides business and economic development assistance for Atkinson, Berrien, Brooks, Clinch, Cook, Echols, Lanier, Lowndes, and Thomas Counties. As part of VSU’s College of Business Administration, the SBDC is an essential resource for small businesses.
